Gas Barrier Range

Protect against Cancer causing Radon gases

Radbar Radon Gas Barrier is a quality driven product widely used throughout the UK and Europe to protect against Cancer causing Radon Gases. The standard Radon membrane is produced at 300mu using only top grade material to ensure consistency and quality of 4M x 25M is designed to be easy to install, while reducing the use of tape and sealants needed for jointing.

Basement Waterproofing

Cementitious and Cavity Drain Systems

The way Cementitious Systems work is by applying a waterproof coating directly to the inside of the porous cellar walls to prevent moisture from seeping in. In a Cavity Drain System, a waterproof membrane is fixed a little way off the wall, over it's whole surface. The plaster and other room finishes are applied to this membrane.

Protection against the dangers of ground gases

Radon Gas

Despite its apparently innocuous nature, radon gas is harmful to health. Public Health England estimates the gas is responsible for around 1,100 cases of lung cancer a year in the UK. As a result, regulations require that homes and buildings constructed in areas where it is present are built in a way that minimises the possibility of the gas getting into the interior.

Methane

Methane is a colourless and odourless gas that occurs throughout nature and as a by product of certain human activities such as landfills and old mineworks. Methane is stable, however mixtures of air and Methane between 5% and 14% by volume are explosive. Current guidance from BS8485 2015 and CIRIA 735 give strict requirements relating to construction methods and verification of install.

Carbon Dioxide

Carbon Dioxide is a odourless, colourless and generally tasteless gas that predominately occurs naturally in the earths atmosphere. Carbon Dioxide is a asphyxiant and when concentration levels are sufficient, initially drowsiness will occur and may then result in death. Carbon Dioxide is produced during the decay of organic materials and because Carbon Dioxide is soluble in water the the movement of the water table effects Carbon Dioxide greatly. Current guidance from BS8485 2015 and CIRIA 735 give strict requirements relating to construction methods and verification of install.

Hydrocarbon / VOC

Hydrocarbon or Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCís) generally consist of oils, diesels and hundreds of other variants VOCís are volatile under normal environmental / atmospheric conditions. They can be found in the ground as solid, liquid as well in the gaseous phase. Because of the unusual nature of VOCís particular attention has to be made regarding the selection of material as the construction method effect material choice. Verification of install is always a planning requirement.
